When Kish is burned by another woman who cannot cope with his scarred body, he vows to never again give his heart to another.
Georgia’s blindness has never been a hindrance until a hastily planned trip quickly turns complicated, and she winds up stranded in a raging snowstorm. Not even her guide dog, Lucy, can get her out of this predicament.
When Kish comes across Georgia, his vow is quickly challenged when he discovers she is his mate.
Can Georgia prove to Kish that she is the one woman who will love him scars and all?
Kish is an alpha male that has been hurt deeply by the women he’s chosen to date in the past. He has decided never open his heart to that kind of pain again. Kish is insecure because of his scars that came from a devastating event in his past. He over hears Henry and Joey in town talking about leaving “her” alone at the cabin and hope they get back to her. When he returns home and realizes “her” friends will not make it back he goes over to make sure she is alright. Once she opens the door and Kish gets his first smell he knows he’s found his mate. It doesn’t matter he will make sure she is safe, forever, but will not give his heart. Yeah, right!
I loved the way Georgia handled Kish’s insecurity about his scars. She didn’t patronize him, she told him they meant nothing to her and proceeded to prove it by her words and actions. The scene in the shower when pays attention to every scar? Hot! Georgia is an independent and confident woman, despite her lack of eyesight. Although, maybe that’s what has made her so strong. She had no problem sending her friends to the store while she stayed behind at the cabin. That is until it snowed so much her friends couldn’t get back to her. Georgia wasn’t scared for herself; so much as she was worried about Henry and Joey making the hour long drive back in the blizzard. As she hears the car returning she realizes that it isn’t them returning but a different vehicle. I think this is the first time she’s felt vulnerable in a while. She has no real choice to let Kish in to help her and realizes she feels safe with him.
What I liked about this story is the journey the two take to accept the love of each other. Kish to realize that Georgia can and does love him no matter what. Georgia learns to accept all of Kish wolf and man. The attraction between the two was intense and undeniable. When they finally come together it is HOT!
Henry and Joey were well developed supporting characters and even managed to make me mad at them for opening their mouths before engaging their brains. The rouge element was present and added some angst and drama, but not so much that it over shadowed the romance.
The one thing I wasn’t thrilled with was that the epilogue basically started another book. I like that the main story had a HEA, but felt a little cheated when the epilogue abruptly changed stories. I like to be left with the characters I started the book with. Adding a teaser at the end of a book is great, but to suddenly turn the page into another story left me feeling as if the book I was reading ended too soon. I admit this is personal issue of mine, but felt it should be mentioned. If it wasn’t for this I’d have given it 5 stars.
