Interview & GiveAway with G.L. Ross author of Turbulent Passion

Turbulent Passion by G.L. Ross Interview Questions #2

Tell us a little about your latest or upcoming release.
Book one of the Flyboy Trilogy is Turbulent Passion, which happens to be my first contemporary romance. The Flyboy Trilogy is a suspenseful, sexy, love story centered around the airline industry.

How long did it take you to write?
Turbulent Passion evolved four times over two and a half years. The final take actually came to me in a dream, which is why Lance’s story unfolds from his dreams.

What inspired you to write this story?
Initially I wrote this book as a message for women. I want women to know it is okay, actually honorable, to wait for real love rather than lust. Yes, sex is enjoyable, but making love is out of this world. The story evolved into a suspenseful, humorous, love story; a story that is fun to read, a story that causes you to laugh and cry out loud. A story that makes you search for your significant other.

Of all the characters you’ve ever written, who is your favorite and why?
Definitely Captain Lance Miller. Lance is an arrogant manwhore you want to despise, but you can’t help but love him because of the little boy hidden inside him craving love and acceptance. Lance is every woman’s dream, he is a sexual god who will put your satisfaction first, his body makes you drool, his voice makes you pant, he will ride in on his white horse and save you, he will do all of this but only after he checks his hair in the mirror! Lance is yummy, but he knows it which is a turn off, yet at the same time quite humorous. One reader wrote to me, “I love Lance. He is hot, but so in love with himself I have to laugh. I swear if Lance could do himself he would!” Creating Lance is fun because I know so many men like him. Men who are alpha male, arrogant, gorgeous manwhores who literally fall apart when they meet the one woman meant for them. Men will change; improve, but only for one woman – their soul mate.

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?
I was a singer and dancer at Six Flags Over Texas while in college. I performed in the Southern Palace & Crazy Horse Saloon. I love music! I love entertaining.

If you could be any famous person for one day, who would you be and why?
If the person doesn’t have to still be living I would say Marilyn Monroe. It would be so fun to be the sexiest woman ever for one day! If the person needs to be alive I would either want to be Oprah or Barbra Streisand. As Oprah I would share my wealth with many foundations and agencies, be very philanthropic. If I were “Babs” I would hold a huge concert and sing my heart out!

If you were stranded on an isolated island, what’s the one book you’d absolutely wish to have with you?
The Dummies Survival Guide for being Stranded on an Isolated Island.

Do you collect things, like stamps, or key chains, or shoes?
I collect giraffes! I love them!

Favorite food for breakfast?
Hmmm my mind is going several directions…Hee-hee. I guess French toast with powdered sugar and cinnamon. (Delivered by Lance, if possible) 

What is your favorite time of day?
Late at night when the house is quiet. I love crawling into bed with a good book.

As a writer, if you could turn back in time and do things differently, would you? What would you change?
I would advertise the book several months in advance prior to release…But, better late than never…right?

Book Description:

Bold, arrogant, and gorgeous are three words which describe the playboy of International Air, Captain Lance Miller. Unbeknownst, to everyone touching Lance’s life, is the fact Lance harbors a secret, a secret which continues to affect his relationship with all women. Love and trust do not exist in Lance’s world, only lust, sex, dominance, and an occasional busty blond.

Naïve, new hire, Flight Attendant, Lisa Price recently graduated from college and is desperately searching for her destiny, a destiny which at this time does not include a man, especially a pilot. Lisa is driven to succeed in all areas of her life, but she too has a secret. A secret she must choose to be embarrassed by or to honorably embrace.

Is it possible these polar opposites will find passion and trust in each other’s arms, enabling them to relinquish control and share their secrets, or is their attraction far too turbulent to pursue?

Hi Mandy and Welcome! We are glad you’ve joined us here today.

Mandy Harbin

Is there anything you’d like to tell us about yourself?  Maybe something most people don’t know?

Hmmm… My life is slowly becoming an open book (pardon the pun), so I’m not sure what I can say that hasn’t been said before. The first thing that comes to mind is that I’m a direct descendent of British royalty. This information (and documentation) has been passed down through generations. I remember hearing stories when I was little about my great-great-(times many) grandparents being kings and queens of England. In later generations even after coming over to the New World, my ancestors traveled back to England to get married there. Somewhere down the line they became true to the colonies and supported our independence. There are records of family members being friends with George Washington. It’s cool that my family has maintained this information over the centuries, and now my aunt has been able to help people in the digital age make the connection with their families to ours. And yes, I have a close friend who calls me “Princess”. Smartass.

How long have you been writing?

I’ve been writing for many years. Even before I became published, I wrote technical documentation for IT projects—specs, user manuals, etc. Yep, the boring stuff. But I was still writing, so it was something I enjoyed on some level. As for writing creatively, I started as kid writing song lyrics. I love music and writing, so at the time it was a wonderful creative outlet for me. As I got older though, I focused more on stories and less on songs.

What do you feel influences your writing?

Besides music? LOL! I guess many things do. I read just about anything that has romance in it, and there are times when I stick to a certain sub-genre for a short while. That definitely has an influence on what I write. On a larger level, the fans also influence my writing. When I wrote book one in this series, Surrounded by Woods, I hadn’t really considered writing books on the brothers. It was just going to be a standalone book. But I got a ton of fan mail asking when the next one would be out. So, yeah, that definitely had a major influence on this series.

How would you describe your writing style?

I tend to be blunt when I write. I want to keep things true to the story, but more times than not, my heroines are strong, smart women, who aren’t afraid to laugh at themselves. I like characters that aren’t perfect because no one is perfect. That doesn’t mean my heroes aren’t sexy as hell. But even imperfections can make a man yum-worthy.

Do you schedule your writing time or write when inspired?

Both. I’m always working. When I’m writing a first draft, I have a minimum word count goal, and I do my best to stick with it. Even in areas that I get stuck in, I keep writing and meet my daily goal. In a couple days the difficult areas tend to work themselves out. Sometimes that means rewrites, but I’d rather be rewriting something than staring at a blank page for several days. But there’s more to publishing than writing. There’s editing, promotion, networking, etc. I’d rather write all day, every day but that’s not the only thing I have to do when it comes to finishing a book.

When you have the time what genre do you usually read?

As long as it has romance, I’m game for just about anything. Paranormal, contemporary, suspense, historical, BDSM, M/M, etc., I just love a great love story.

Last and/or favorite book read?

I don’t have a favorite book. I read about 100 or so each year, so some stay with me while others are easily forgotten. Megan Hart’s Broken stands out as one of my favorites, as does Tymber Dalton’s The Reluctant Dom. LOL and those were both tearjerkers! Leave Me Breathless (Leather and Lace Series) by Cherrie Lynn is the last book I read, and it was awesome. She’s a new author for me, but after I read the first book in that series, I immediately bought Leave Me Breathless.

What do you want to tell us about your series?

This series is about a family of mountain lion shifters who live in self-imposed exile. They have such an intense need to mate with any available woman that they avoid all women unless one is already taken by a man. So even their sexual hookups have to be with women who are in committed, yet open, relationships. Otherwise, their beastly side will take over and force a mating. If that were to happen, the woman will attack, and they’ll fight to the death in a show of dominance. Their youngest brother was a victim of a force mating death, so they understand just how dire a situation it is to be around available women. They want to find love but are just unwilling to risk it.

What do you have planned next?

I have a lot coming out this year. I just finished an M/M that is currently in submission. I’m working on a BDSM book that involves minor characters from my first Ellora’s Cave release, Digital Possession. I’m also braining storming winter themed stories. Now I just need to find the time to finish everything! 🙂

INTERVIEW WITH ADAM AND EVE from THE GARDEN / The Unauthorized Biography of Adam and Eve

THE GARDEN / The Unauthorized Biography of Adam and Eve by Paul T. Harry

The Garden Blurb:
Nearly every religion and society in the world today begins with their story with Adam and Eve. And yet, this most basic story is couched in mysticism, myth, and vague detail. Did such a couple really exist? Were they the first man and woman on our planet–or is there more to the story?

For two hundred thousand years the Neanderthal race ruled Earth, then mysteriously, 40,000 years ago they disappeared forever leaving behind a new race of people, the Cro-Magnon. Why? What happened back then that changed our history?

The Garden of Eden, a perfect home built and designed for two people, until the serpent arrived. Who was the serpent? And what was he doing there in the first place? Is there a chance that the serpent is actually a reference to some hidden sexual transgression?

Imagine traveling billions of light years across space to settle an unknown world populated by primitive barbarians. Imagine being alone, just you and your spouse, the two of you in charge of an entire world with only your faith and your mission to guide you—and, of course, the devil waiting for that first fatal mistake.

Could you have done things better?

The Garden

A Love Story
A Saga of Good vs Evil
The Beginning of Humanity’s Historic Journey

Today, I have the incredible honor of interviewing perhaps the most famous couple the world has ever known. They are a couple made famous in numerous books, religious tomes and testaments, including the Bible, and their legacy easily spans the centuries touching each and every one of us in ways we can only begin to imagine. The input of their genetics alone changed the entire direction of our species’ development. But beyond that, they changed our development both culturally and spiritually, and the effect of their presence is felt even today. The ironic part is, most of us know very little about the couple I’m going to introduce you to, our guests today, Adam and Eve.

Adam and Eve: Thank you. It’s a pleasure to be here.

Internet news: I’d like you to hold that thought for just a minute. And before we continue any further I’d like to give our readers a little more background information on the two of you so they can fully appreciate what happened 40,000 years ago. Can you tell us a little about your home planet, Mirra?

Adam: Surely. It’s a large planet, slightly larger in circumference than Earth, though the gravity is about the same. It’s far older and much more settled climate wise.

Eve: And we don’t have a moon like your planet, but we’re surrounded by far more stars.

Internet News: But your planet’s technologically, it’s quite superior to that of Earth’s.

Adam: Yes, far more so—though you have been making substantial strides in the last hundred years.

Internet News: Do you think that the technological difference between our two planets contributed to your situation here on Earth? Perhaps even your failure?

Eve: Undoubtedly. I don’t think either Adam or I fully realized how much we missed Mirra or our previous lives there until we were alone together on Earth. Even we were fooled. I don’t think it was the distance between our worlds necessarily, but the isolation that was the worst thing. We never had a chance to make contact with anyone from our previous lives. At times it was like everyone we knew had died and we were the only ones left. And even though we made many new friends on Terran and there were many rewards, it always felt like we were missing something.

Adam: I would have to agree. Perhaps if we had not been so educated, or used to things that many of you take for granted it would’ve been different. I understand, of course, why things had to be the way they were. The Terran project was an experiment that called for the strictest standards and that meant we had to be alone on your planet. It was the only way.

Internet News: Aside from the default, what was your biggest mistake on Terran?

Adam: Wow, there were quite a few. Underestimating Mikatta, that was a big one for me. I knew at the time that we had to be wary of him, but I unprepared for the level of viciousness he cast upon us and his deceit was immeasurable. I think he had a better grasp of the time it would take to put his plans into motion. Both Eve and I were caught up in the daily lives of everyone in Eden. Our days and nights were kept busy supervising the tribes and formulating our plans to make Earth a better place. Mikatta on the other hand, had only one plan in mind and that was to bring us down.

Internet news: Eve?

Eve: For me it was the loss of Kane and Able. As parents, it’s hard to reconcile yourself with the loss of your children. Again, there are no excuses. We could’ve done better job.

Internet News: Adam, Eve, I would like to thank you for a wonderful interview. Meeting you has been a delight and far more than I could’ve ever have imagined, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. And for our readers, I do hope you will take the time to pick up a copy of THE GARDEN, The Unauthorized Biography of Adam and Eve, available now at  You won’t be disappointed.

Give Away & Interview with Kim DeSalvo!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to something for my Birthday, so I’m going to give away a copy of my favorite contemporary romance of 2012.
It’s by brand new self-published author Kim DeSalvo. Her book Incidental Happenstance is one of the best “author’s first book” I have ever read. Click the rafflecopter link at the bottom of post for Give Away.  The winner will be announced on Jan. 28th.

kim desalvoKim kindly took the time to answer some questions for us.

What inspired you write Incidental Happenstance?

I’ve been a writer all my life–journals, poetry, short stories, kid’s books…but aside from a poem published in a giant anthology, I never really tried publishing them. Incidental Happenstance started as an idea that got stuck in my head. It invaded my sleep and started growing; the characters began having conversations, developing faces and voices, and they just wouldn’t leave me alone. Life was incredibly busy, as it always is, but it got to the point where I had to get it out and I started writing. At first I thought it would be like the others, sitting in my huge file of writing “stuff,” but I liked how it was coming along, and started sharing it with a few people who encouraged me to keep working on it. It was them who inspired me to take it all the way to publication–my book club, family, and friends who read early drafts and made suggestions that I took to heart when doing the never ending edits and revisions that pretty much took over my life. I’m so glad I did!

Why write a contemporary romance?

In this instance, I just went with the story. Romance is such a huge part of life, and falling into someone else’s love story is a fun way to escape from the trials and tribulations of everyday life; whether reading or writing.

I loved the scene with Chester and Francine! How did you come up with it?

I wish I knew! Sometimes I just get lost in the story and wonder myself where the words came from 🙂

Is there going to be another book and will it (hopefully) continue with Tia and Dylan? The sequel is in the works. I’ve been so humbled and awed that people have loved Tia and Dylan as I came to love them, and have been thrilled by the requests for more of their story. I had more in store for them from the onset, but had to find an ending point for the book to keep it a reasonable length. I’m so happy to be able to stay in their world for while longer! I’ve also got some new ideas simmering on the back burner.

Will we ever get the stories behind the other band members? Bo is going to be a pretty prominent figure in the sequel–he and Lexi have much more to explore in their relationship…

Do you have playlist to give us an idea of how INHAP sounds?

Listen to anything by Dave Matthews. He was absolutely the voice I had in my head when I envisioned Dylan on stage. Raw and honest, pure and gravelly; like honey and sandpaper.

Just for fun…I love to travel. I don’t have kids, and my day job as a teacher affords me a good amount of time off. Every single place I visit changes me and reminds me that no matter what our differences, we are all the same at the core. I’m also a scuba diver, and love being an alien in the underwater world.

Favorite color?

Blue. Because it’s the color of a warm summer sky, but is also a melancholy color. It encompasses every emotion.

Favorite drink?

Hmmm. I guess it depends on the day. And time of day. In the summer, a tall glass of fresh lemonade. Coffee in the mornings. I also like micro brew beers. But my go-to cocktail is a Long Island Iced Tea.

Favorite snack food? Fresh guacamole–nature’s perfect food!

Last movie you went to the theater to see?  The Hobbit. Tolkien was a genius, and I’m a sucker for the films. Have extended editions of all the Lord of the Rings movies, and can practically recite the dialogue.

Last and/or favorite book read?  The last book was the final installment in Nora Roberts’s Bride Quartet series. That woman really knows how to write a romance! My favorite book of all time, though, is The Stand by Stephen King. It’s one of only a handful of books that I’ve read more than once…the man is an absolute master when it comes to the art of writing.
