Synopsis:

The Billionaire’s Club: The wealthiest, most powerful men, not only in Chicago, but in the world.  They are used to having whatever they want, whenever they want it.

Luke Preston is the ultimate playboy among his billionaire friends.  Every bad girl in Chicago has surrendered in his bed.  Some good girls, too.  But when he ends up in the hospital after an assassination attempt, his friends suggest he take a long vacation to recoup, regroup and lay off the women until the man is caught.  However, when Luke lays eyes on the stunning brunette across the beach, she inspires every dark, erotic thought his mind can conjure.

Peyton Lane has always been serious and responsible and she’s determined to have some fun for once in her life.  And that means a deliciously, sexy affair with a stranger while she’s on vacation.  So when a blond Adonis named Luke crosses her path at the Cancun resort, she’s determined that he will be the one. But Peyton gets more than she bargained for when Luke introduces her to a passion unlike any she has ever experienced and she discovers that behind that charming smile are secrets and a beautiful, damaged soul.

My Thoughts:

This was a light and very steamy read. It’s a sexy story about a vacation fling and two people finding the love they didn’t know they needed. I liked both Luke and Peyton well enough, but the story is so short there wasn’t much depth or character development. The sex scenes were really well written and very hot. The HEA is believable even if it felt a bit rushed.

Taken By Him is the second book in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone. If you’re looking for something sexy and fun that won’t take up a lot your time this is one to read.

ARC Review: Color Me Bad

Color Me Bad

Color Me Bad by Sharon Sala

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

Blurb:

An original short story by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Sharon Sala links to her full-length contemporary women’s fiction novel, The Curl Up and Dye.

The novella centers around the four women who run the Curl Up and Dye hair salon and their relationships with the quirky customers of small-town Blessings, Georgia. Their meddlesome efforts at match-making run awry, but there’s always another makeover just around the corner.

My Thoughts:

I absolutely loved this story. I was hooked from the dedication. This is one of the best introductions to a series I’ve read. It had the feel of one of my favorite movies… Steel Magnolias. I was laughing so hard at one point my DD came to check on me. Let’s just say I might me giggling every time I see red hair for a while 😉 I will not spoil any of this novella, you must read it. It doesn’t take long and will introduce you to many wonderful characters. It is a quick read and was over before I was ready. The pace is fairly fast, but flows nicely. The world building is complete and I could see the town and beauty parlor perfectly. For a novella the characters are remarkably complete and believable; I loved some and really disliked others. I’m looking forward to the next installment of the Curl Up and Dye series that’s going to be a full length novel.

When executive woman Katie Warren arrives in the picturesque village of Little Marplethorpe for a country holiday, to reassess her life and her future, she doesn’t bargain on ending up in a hot three way love affair with a man she’s admired from afar… and his gorgeously handsome male partner.

Marcus Dane and Owen Foster are lovers, committed for a lifetime, but they both enjoy the company of women as friends and bedmates too. Encountering Katie at an exhibition of his work, Marcus knows she’s just the kind of bold, daring, imaginative woman who’ll relish sharing erotic games with Owen and himself.

But what none of the trio expects is that their intense, steamy threesome will quickly deepen into a bond that’s a lot more than just simply fabulous sex.

My Thoughts:

This is about Katie who has come into some money and goes away to spend some time thinking of her future. She runs into Marcus and Owen, of course there’s immediate chemistry, and they have seriously hot time during her vacation. Katie knows that this is just an affair for the very much in love couple she’s lost herself to, but will take what she can get. She didn’t count on the men falling for her also.

I did like this story, especially the scenes of Marcus and Owen. The sex was plentiful and very, very hot. I just didn’t connect with the characters and it felt rushed to me. Katie was just too stupid to breathe at times. The plot was a bit narrow and that may be due to the brevity of the story.  This was a very quick read.

If you’re looking for something fast, steamy, and a bit fun that will leave you happy with the ending this is for you. Be warned there is definitely M/M action (which was well written), just so you know if that’s not your cuppa.

A killer is stalking the streets of Crossroads, Mississippi, and it’s up to Sheriff Ava Dushaine to stop him. But when suspicion falls on werewolf alpha Julian Kasey—Ava’s ex-lover and the man who still haunts her dreams—Ava knows that she’ll either have to prove his innocence…or watch the whole town go up in flames.

My Thoughts:

This is a fantastic short story.  It has all the elements I like: mystery, action, romance and a hot werewolf.

Ava’s job as sheriff is to keep the peace between the shifters, vampires, and humans. Yep, it’s as easy as it sounds, especially with someone out there killing humans and vampires. The suspect turns out to be Ava’s hot one night stand Julian, Alpha of the wolf pack. The connection between the two is strong and Julian wants Ava back. Together they need to find out who’s been doing the killings and keep Ava alive after she’s been betrayed by those she should’ve been able to trust.

For a short story this was remarkably detailed and did leave me wishing it had been longer and more developed. It could’ve easily been novel length.

Blurb:
Jacob La Costa Rios is the head of the California governor’s security team; he’s also a vampire who wants the governor, a presidential hopeful, to support the peaceful integration of vampires into human society. Unfortunately, there are others who oppose Jake’s plan. Plus, Jake’s a little distracted by discovering his one true mate, the human female who can give him everything he’s always wanted: love, children, and continuing immortality. Francesca Marie Stewart is the governor’s “go-green” political consultant.

Although she’s been attracted to Jake from day one, her priority is her career and protecting her heart. But then Jake blatantly propositions her and Frankie, who hasn’t experienced sexual intimacy since she was seventeen-years-old, decides it’s time to take what she wants—within reason. No matter—once Jake makes love to Frankie, he knows reason will be the farthest thing from her mind. Then he just has to eliminate the person threatening her, reveal the fact he’s a vampire, and convince her that trusting him will bring both of them eternal happiness.

A Vampire’s Salvation is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as excerpts from these Loveswept titles:
Along Came Trouble, Hero of My Heart, and Arrested by Love.

My Thoughts:

This story is short and filled with romance and action. If you like PNR, erotica, and are looking for a good fast read this is for you.

Frankie is a complex person. She’s confident in her work life, yet insecure and innocent when it comes to sex and relationships. Frankie has good reason not to trust men. It all stems from an incident in her past which has left her scarred both physically and emotionally.

Jake is a vampire that is almost out of time when he finds his life mate in Frankie. He knows he’ll have a time of it getting her to trust him. It was sweet the way he took his time, was loving and gentle with her. Of course, he protects and saves Frankie. He waits a little too long for me before he makes her aware that she’s his life mate. It would have saved her a lot of her hurt and confusion.

The story is fast paced and will keep you engaged.  There was plenty of sex for a story of this size and it was pretty steamy. My only issue was with one scene, if I’d read “slowly and tenderly” one more time I might have stopped reading. It’s obvious from the ending that the story will continue, but not who it will be about. It could be about different people, but I felt it left Jake and Frankie’s story with a “to be continued” feel.  This is a good short read with just a bit more information and length it could have been a really good/great story.

Call Me, Maybe: Sexual Caresses at an Airport
by Liz Adams

????????????????????????????????????????

Blurb:

Imagine a hunk of a man you just met at an airport, running his hands along your back, under your T-shirt, down your jeans, as you fly higher to his love… Please share!

What I said about it:

I love Liz Adam’s erotic shorts! Call Me Maybe: Sexual Caresses at an Airport is no exception. She can develop a real 3D character that the reader can feel and believe in with few words. For example, I felt Jonathan’s pain over the actions of his shallow girlfriend’s behavior. The way it wrapped up was just how I’d hoped. If you’re looking for a well written, very hot, and steamy erotic story that has wonderful characters I recommend this one.

Falling in love isn’t always easy or pleasant. The intense and angst-filled story of Emma and Scott is a painful, gut-wrenching and exhausting portrayal of how hard it can be to let go…

Picking up the pieces and starting again in the US, Emma enrols in college with her cousin, Ashley. She is finally free to do what she wants and live how she chooses, and no man will ever rule her decisions or emotions again.

That is, until Scott Mason walks on stage…

Intense bad boy Scott is the lead singer of a popular local rock band. A ladies’ man and Ashley’s long-time friend, Scott holds an instant fascination for Emma — she finds herself drawn to him, even though he represents everything she hates and needs to stay away from in a guy. He treats females like he does a cigarette — light it, use it, and lose it.

For her cousin’s sake, Emma makes an effort to get along with Scott, but she soon discovers that there is more to him than first appears, making him even more dangerous in her eyes. Behind the façade of friendship, jealousy, obsession, fear and insecurity fester — an internal battle rages as she fights her attraction and does everything she can to stop history from repeating itself.

One thing she knows for sure is that if she breaks her rule, it may destroy her.
