Detective Astrid Holmes is a sensitive, a human capable of feeling the energy of otherworlders. When she is dispatched to the horrific murder scene of a local vampire, she expects it to be just another day on the job. But when evidence is stolen on her watch, she is removed—not only from the investigation, but from her job as a member of the Chicago police department’s paranormal unit.

Astrid’s only hope of reinstatement lies with her ex co-worker and almost-lover, Lycan Mason Sanderson. But convincing the OWEA agent to let her assist with the investigation isn’t nearly as difficult as staying alive when the murderer realizes that Astrid may hold the key to unlocking his identity.

Fighting to take down a killer could have deadly consequences for Astrid and Mason, but working together puts their already fragile relationship in jeopardy.

My Thoughts:

I had a hard time getting into this one. It never really grabbed my attention. The characters fell a bit flat for me. I had no major editing issues except for a few instances of a complete lack of transition from one place and characters to others. It would happen from one paragraph to the next, not from one chapter to another.  I was left a little confused for a few seconds.

Astrid is a sensitive with the police department and Mason is a were with the Otherworld Enforcement Agency. They work together to sovle a murder after she is relieved of her duty on the force.  She and Mason have some issues to deal with in their personal lives. The sex was steamy if not very detailed.  Mason came across as a strong, silent, and hot alpha.

Cover Reveal: How to Run with a Naked Werewolf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m so excited to finally be getting another Naked Werewolf book by Molly Harper!
How to run with a naked werewolf  Blurb:

Caleb Graham is a werewolf by nature, a tracker by profession.  He uses his “extra gifts” to find people, and not always in the most legal or ethical manner. He doesn’t care what they’ve done, or who wants them found, as long as his considerable fee is paid. He likes his life simple and uncomplicated.

Anna Moder, former physician to Caleb’s pack, happens across Caleb during a particularly violent “negotiation” that has left him bloodied and unconscious. She helps him, despite the fact that he’s cost her a car, so he insists that she stay with him on the road for a while. As they grow closer, Anna looks past the gruff exterior and and the questionable job to thoroughly decent werewolf underneath.

Anna – who is careful to edit her involvement with Caleb’s pack from their conversations – doesn’t talk about why a nice girl wants to live in the middle of frozen nowhere, but she’s obviously on the run from something. When Anna’s past collides with Caleb’s current assignment from one of his sleazier contacts,  Caleb finally has to make a choice—protect his job…or his potential mate?

When Kish is burned by another woman who cannot cope with his scarred body, he vows to never again give his heart to another.

Georgia’s blindness has never been a hindrance until a hastily planned trip quickly turns complicated, and she winds up stranded in a raging snowstorm. Not even her guide dog, Lucy, can get her out of this predicament.

When Kish comes across Georgia, his vow is quickly challenged when he discovers she is his mate.

Can Georgia prove to Kish that she is the one woman who will love him scars and all?

Kish is an alpha male that has been hurt deeply by the women he’s chosen to date in the past.  He has decided never open his heart to that kind of pain again. Kish is insecure because of his scars that came from a devastating event in his past. He over hears Henry and Joey in town talking about leaving “her” alone at the cabin and hope they get back to her. When he returns home and realizes “her” friends will not make it back he goes over to make sure she is alright.  Once she opens the door and Kish gets his first smell he knows he’s found his mate. It doesn’t matter he will make sure she is safe, forever, but will not give his heart. Yeah, right!

I loved the way Georgia handled Kish’s insecurity about his scars.  She didn’t patronize him, she told him they meant nothing to her and proceeded to prove it by her words and actions. The scene in the shower when pays attention to every scar? Hot!  Georgia is an independent and confident woman, despite her lack of eyesight.  Although, maybe that’s what has made her so strong.  She had no problem sending her friends to the store while she stayed behind at the cabin.  That is until it snowed so much her friends couldn’t get back to her.  Georgia wasn’t scared for herself; so much as she was worried about Henry and Joey making the hour long drive back in the blizzard.  As she hears the car returning she realizes that it isn’t them returning but a different vehicle.  I think this is the first time she’s felt vulnerable in a while.  She has no real choice to let Kish in to help her and realizes she feels safe with him.

What I liked about this story is the journey the two take to accept the love of each other. Kish to realize that Georgia can and does love him no matter what. Georgia learns to accept all of Kish wolf and man.  The attraction between the two was intense and undeniable.  When they finally come together it is HOT!

Henry and Joey were well developed supporting characters and even managed to make me mad at them for opening their mouths before engaging their brains.  The rouge element was present and added some angst and drama, but not so much that it over shadowed the romance.

The one thing I wasn’t thrilled with was that the epilogue basically started another book.  I like that the main story had a HEA, but felt a little cheated when the epilogue abruptly changed stories.  I like to be left with the characters I started the book with. Adding a teaser at the end of a book is great, but to suddenly turn the page into another story left me feeling as if the book I was reading ended too soon. I admit this is personal issue of mine, but felt it should be mentioned.  If it wasn’t for this I’d have given it 5 stars.

This is a short story for adults over 18!  I don’t usually enjoy short stories; never really feel like I get to know the characters. I really liked this one.

Book Description: Most know of me, or at least have heard my tale.
Certainly you would recognize my crimson cloak, perhaps you have even been regaled by tales of my battles against the wolves.

But as with most stories, that is only part of my life.

If you are truly curious, then sit for a while. Join me and discover for yourself the truth about the woman with the dark red riding hood.

My Take:
The characters were actually well developed with personality.  Samantha is an innocent girl in love with Jonah.  She comes across as strong and confident despite her inexperience with the opposite sex.  Samantha has been alone for a while, ever since her grandmother passed away, this speaks of the strength she has inside.

I didn’t get to know Jonah too well; his character wasn’t as developed as Samantha, and I don’t want to give anything away.  I do know he is a very skilled lover 😉  Jonah was gentle, sensuous and very passionate.  Jonah’s wild side definitely came through loud and clear, as did his love and protective instincts. I have a feeling we’ll be hearing more from him in the future.

I am so glad I was given the opportunity to read this short story.  I’m waiting on the next install patiently (not).  I really didn’t find anything wrong with this story, it was well written, the characters likable and I didn’t encounter any editing problems.  I recommend this for anyone looking for a quick and steamy read.  I’d have my significant other nearby, for when I was done reading.

I received this from the author for an honest review. My first thought was- Great another erotic fairy tale? I’m so glad I got it and was surprised by how good it is.
